With money from special discounted tickets, the Falcon Football Boosters, and Coach Mike Bellers have been able to offer a $1,000 Ryan Hummert Scholarship each year for a senior Falcon football player who exemplifies the character traits that Hummert lived.

"If you didn't have the privilege of knowing Ryan Hummert, RSHS Class of 2004, he was an outstanding leader on and off the football field, where he was a team captain and proudly wore jersey number 58," Woodland said in an email. "Ryan was an inspiration to many younger Falcon football players, as he always positively encouraged them to do their best."

The fire fighters greeted families, collected donations for the Ryan Hummert Scholarship, participated in the opening game coin toss, and carried the Spirit Trophy to present to the winner at half time.

Woodland also said moments before presenting the trophy, "A call came out for the Fenton Fire Department for a sick coach in our school's locker room.  One of the visiting coaches had heat related issues.  As soon as (the Maplewood) firefighters heard that call for help on the radio, they ruished to the locker room to take care of this sick coach while waiting for the Fenton Fire Department to arrive."
