A 17-year-old Fenton man drove his car at a St. Louis County police officer Wednesday, requiring the officer to jump out of the way. The car struck the detective’s hand and caused him to injure his knee, according to a court document.

Brock Burlison, 17, of the 1000 block of Acorn Hollow Street in Fenton, was charged Thursday with second-degree assault on an officer and resisting arrest.

St. Louis County Police said officers responded to a report of drug activity in a parking lot at 1742 Preston Centre Drive in Fenton. When officers arrived, they saw a car described by the caller with a cloud of smoke inside.

Det. Sean Becker wrote in a statement that he was wearing a police raid vest and identified himself as a police officer as he approached the car. The driver, identified by police as Burlison, drove the car at Becker, causing the detective to jump out of the way. Becker said the car hit his hand and he strained his knee.

Police arrested Burlison at his residence. Police said Burlison refused to come out of the car. Becker said he pulled Burlison out of the car and the defendant swung his arms, striking Becker in the face.
