The Sheriff's Citizens Academy (SCA) was initiated by Sheriff Oliver "Glenn" Boyer to allow the citizens of Jefferson County to gain some insight and create a better understanding between the citizens and the sheriff's department. Each graduating class produces a growing number of residents with first hand knowledge of the practices and procedures of the sheriff's department. All law enforcement topics are addressed in the classes but they are not meant to train the citizens to become police officers. Course topics range from administrative functions, narcotics, investigations, tactical teams, firearms, jail functions, traffic & road patrol, and K-9.

There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required.
