High Ridge Man Tried to Steal Motorcycle, Police Say

A witness confronted two men attempting to steal the cycle, and the men ran off, St. Louis County Police said.

A High Ridge man was charged Monday with trying to steal a motorcycle in Fenton.

said witnesses saw Jacob D. Markmueller and another man pushing a black, Honda CBR motorcycle from its space on a parking lot in the 600 block of Green Earth Drive in at about 12:45 a.m. June 3. They pushed the motorcycle up a grassy incline and tampered with the ignition, according to the report.

One of the witnesses confronted the men, and they dropped the cycle and ran, police said. The ignition was damaged and the back foot knob was broken off.

Police arrested Markmueller a short time later.

Markmueller, 18, of the 4400 block of Meadow Drive in High Ridge, is charged with attempting to steal a motor vehicle.

Bond was set at $5,000.
