High Ridge Man One of Three Weekend Drowning Victims

Michael C. Collins jumped into the river at George Winter Park after his boat began to float away from the dock.

A High Ridge grandfather was one of three men to die in separate drowning incidents over the weekend.

Micheal C. Collins, 56, jumped in the Meramec River at George Winter Park around noon on July 24 after his boat, carrying his two grandchildren, began to float away from the dock, according to a report on KSDK-TV. Family members told the TV station's reporter that Collins was not wearing a life jacket and was not a good swimmer. 

On Saturday night, a 34-year-old, Syracuse, MO, man drowned in Little Gravois Cove in the Lake of the Ozarks, according a story in The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.Meanwhile, the newspaper reported that a 21-year-old Illinois man drowned on Sunday in a resort pool in the Lake of the Ozarks.
