High Ridge Couple Injured in Sunday Crash With Truck

The truck ran the couple off the highway, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Benny and Beverly Dautenhahn, of High Ridge, received minor to moderate injuries following a car crash Sunday on Interstate 44 at the 230-mile marker in Franklin County.

Benny Dautenhahn, 75, was driving a 2004 Mercury Marquis in the right lane of the highway when it was struck by a truck that was travelling in the left lane, according to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).

The MSHP report stated the truck changed lanes and struck Dautenhahn's vehicle sending both the truck and the car off the left side of the roadway where they crashed into the cable barrier and came to rest in the median.

Benny sustained minor injuries while Beverly, 72, was reported to have had moderate injuries. Both were taken by St. Clair Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO. The Mercury Marquis was totalled.

The driver of the truck, Epifanio Salguero, of Chaparral, NM., also received moderate injuries and was taken to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO.
