Handgun, Fire Safe Stolen; Jewelry Goes Missing

The following information was provided by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

Old Highway 141, Fenton

A handgun and a safe were stolen from a residence on Old Hwy. 141 in Fenton March 25 when a burglar forced open a front window. Missing were a 9mm Ruger semi-automatic handgun and a black fireproof safe containing backup computer disks. The value of the property was set at $400. Sheriff's deputies canvassed the area and dusted for fingerprints, but have no leads in the case.

Several items of jewelry were reported missing from the bedroom of a home on Valley View Drive March 23 after several of the victim's son's friends were at the residence. Missing were a women’s wedding band (gold with an unknown carat diamond), a gold bracelet and several miscellaneous necklaces and rings. The value of the missing items was set at $3,000.

The victim said her son had friends at the house on the day the items went missing, adding that her son's friend, whom she did not know, asked to use the restroom on the main floor near the bedroom. The victim said the friend was upstairs for a long period of time. Deputies continue to investigate the case.
