Former Finance Officer for Fenton-Based Internet Services Firm Pleads Guilty of Embezzlement

Company loss is said to be approximately $68,000.

The United States Attorney’s Office announced today in a news release that Terry Tonsing, Jr., pled guilty to defrauding his employer C2 Communications, a marketer of internet services located in Fenton.

According to court documents, between 2003 and his departure in February 2007, Tonsing defrauded C2 by using the company's ATM/debit card for his personal food, travel, entertainment and for the mortgage on his personal residence.  In order to conceal his actions, he had the company bank statements sent to his personal address. Tonsing’s unauthorized expenses caused shortages in C2's finances and as a result he fell behind in paying business expenses of C2, including federal withholding taxes of approximately $15,000.  The total loss is approximately $68,000.

Tonsing, 35, Oakville, pled guilty to one felony count of mail fraud before United States District Judge Jean Hamilton, who set sentencing for Feb. 24, 2012.
