Fenton Woman Admits Making Up Story About Fake Cop Assault

The woman, who was charged Wednesday with making a false report, initially told Clayton Police a person, who appeared to be an officer, dragged her from her car and assaulted her.

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced charges were filed Wednesday against a Fenton woman who claimed to be assaulted in Clayton by someone posing as a police officer.

Stacy Warren, 47, of the 2200 block of Maximaus Drive in Fenton, claimed an individual who appeared to be a police officer dragged her from her car and assaulted her.

An investigation by revealed several inconsistencies in the woman’s statement. When police pressed her, she acknowledged she made the story up.

Making a false Report is a class B misdemeanor punishable upon conviction by a sentence up to six months in county jail and a fine up to $500.
