Fenton Police Again Sponsoring Christmas Drive for Motel Families

Police collecting items for families in need who are living in Fenton motels over the Christmas holidays.

The Fenton Precinct, has reached out to  managers of Fenton motels in order to find families in need, according to Police Officer Aaron Dilks of the Fenton Precinct.  Each hotel manager provided the names of families that fit the criteria.  Dilks said four less-fortunate families with children who will be spending Christmas in Fenton motels have been identified.

"I met with each family in person to discuss their situation and spoke about their needs," Dilks said in a news release.  "The four families selected are very deserving and will be very appreciative of our help."

"If you choose to help these families you can, of course, give whatever you want," "Dilks said. "Last year the gifts ranged from food, toys and clothes for the children, gift cards for the parents, gifts for parents, books, school supplies and batteries.  Every family I spoke with worries about getting enough money for rent next month, BUT cash is not a good gift.  However, if you want to give cash toward a rent payment, you can give it to me and I will make the payment for them."

Dilks asks those who wish to make a donation to drop the gift by the Fenton Precinct, 625 New Smizer Mill Road, preferably wrapped and labeled to what family and name of person if applicable.  "If it is not a specific gift for anyone in particular, no worries," Dilks said. "I will put everything together then divide it evenly, such as 4 boxes full of food, the same amount of gift cards, or each family the same amount of miscellaneous gifts."

The families are:
