Fenton Bank Robbery Suspect Also Robbed Walgreens for Cigarettes, Police Say

Police said they chased the man Aug. 29 after the bank robbery, with speeds exceeding 100 mph.

A man already accused of robbing Reliance Bank in Fenton now faces criminal charges connected to a Chesterfield Walgreens robbery Aug. 15.

Joseph Haring, 27, of the 100 block of Sugar Mountain in Fenton, was charged Tuesday with first-degree robbery in connection with the Walgreen incident.

He was charged Sept. 12 with second-degree robbery and resisting arrest for an Aug. 29 incident at Reliance Bank.

Chesterfield Police said Haring robbed the Walgreens at 917 East Chesterfield Parkway at about 6 p.m. Aug 15. Police said Haring was armed with a knife when he stole cigarette cartons from Walgreens.

St. Louis County Police said Haring forcibly stole money from Reliance Bank, 1000 South Highway Drive in Fenton, at about 9:20 a.m. Aug 29. Police said he then fled from police, driving at speeds more than 100 mph and weaving in and out of traffic.

Later, an ambulance hit Haring on Interstate 44 as he was walking on the highway shoulder near Interstate 270. Police wanted him for questioning about the bank robbery at the time.

Bond was set at $100,000 for the bank robbery and resisting arrest; bond also was set at $100,000 for the Walgreen’s robbery.
