Fatal Crash at Highway 141 and Romaine Creek Road

The following information was provided by the Jefferson County Sheriff's department.

Highway 141 and Romaine Creek Road

Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene of a crash At Hwy. 141 and Romaine Creek Road March 10 where a driver travelling south on Hwy. 141 struck a traffic light pole, knocking it over.  Upon impact the vehicle caught fire. the driver was pulled from the wreckage by bystanders who also provided first aid. The driver was transported to St. Anthony's Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Saline Valley Fire Protection District and Rock Township Ambulance also also responded to the scene.

Fiedler Circle, Fenton

Acting on a complaint from neighbors Feb. 20, deputies responded to a recently excavated property next to an apartment building parking lot on Fiedler Circle. They observed a large excavated area that recently had been grass seeded had been driven through numerous times, causing ruts in the ground. A four-wheel drive vehicle apparently had struck a fire hydrant and a concrete culvert cover that had just been built, causing property damage estimated at $3,000.

East Golden Circle, High Ridge

A pair of gaming systems were reported stolen March 3 from a residence on East Golden Circle in High Ridge. The thief threw a rock through a window to gain entry to the home. Missing were an Xbox and PlayStation game system with a total value of $330.

Mt. Everest Drive, Fenton

Deputies arrested a man for 1st degree burglary after he admitted taking items March 3 from an apartment on Mt. Everest Drive. Deputies said the burglary victim awoke at 6 a.m. and, responding to a noise in the living room noticed the window was open and his Playstation console and a flat screen TV was missing. The victim said he saw hiw nephew run from the apartment, jump into his girlfriend's car and speed away in reverse. The missing items, valued at $1,166 were later found in the woods. The nephew admitted the thefts and his girlfriend also implicated him.
