Burglar Uses Key Under Flower Pot to Gain Entry to House; Steals Jewelry

The following information was reported by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

Bristol Bend Drive, High Ridge

A burglar apparently used a house key hidden under a flower pot on the front porch to enter a home Oct. 30 on Bristol Bend Drive, in the Stonehenge subdivision in High Ridge. Stolen were several rings and other jewelry., according to a sheriff's department report. Missing were a men's  gold wedding ring with an Irish Claddagh design, a women's gold wedding ring with an Irish Claddagh design and four emeralds on top of the design and three emeralds on the bottom, three pearl necklaces, three necklaces with brown beads, a men's gold "Freemason" ring, a silver and diamond wedding ring and a gold women's cocktail ring with multiple diamonds. The value of the missing items is unknown. All doors and windows at the home were locked. There were no signs of forced entry. The incident is still under investigation.

Plymouth Drive, High Ridge

Copper piping, air conditioner, water heater and furnace parts were stolen from a home Oct. 29 on Plymouth Drive in High Ridge by someone who entered the home through a basement window. Missing were copper natural gas lines that had been cut and removed, copper from within the furnace, gas lines to a water heater and "copper "drop lines" for a clothes dryer. On the outside of the residence the air conditioner had been was taken completely apart and copper parts removed. The copper natural gas lines from the gas meter into the residence also had been removed. An area canvass was made by sheriff's deputies but neighbors were unable to be contacted. An investigation is ongoing.
