After Four-Hour Standoff, Victim's Son Charged With Burglary, Violating Protection Order

Earlier on Thursday, Joseph S. Meier had been served with an order of protection, banning him from being near his mother or in her home.

A man faces criminal charges after a four-hour standoff with police in Fenton that required assistance from the St. Louis County SWAT Team.

A burglar alarm sounded at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday and police found the man inside a home in the 1500 block of Legacy Circle. St. Louis County Police said the man, Joseph S. Meier, 24, of Fenton, had broken into his mother’s home.

Meier’s mother, who was not home at the time, had an order of protection against Meier. The order had been served to Meier earlier the same day.
