Remembering Russell Newlin

The Fenton man died in an accident on Highway 364 in Maryland Heights on June 3.

A 31-year-old Fenton man died in a car accident in Maryland Heights earlier this month.

Russell Newlin died June 3 following a two-vehicle accident at Highway 364 and Bennington Place in Maryland Heights, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Newlin lost control of his pickup when attempting a lane change, striking the front of a vehicle in the next lane. His truck overturned and struck a guardrail. Newlin was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene around 4 p.m.

Newlin did not have a seatbelt on, according to the report. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.

Services for Newlin were held June 8.

Newlin worked at Joe Boccardi's restaurant in Eureka, according to his obituary on St. Louis Cremation.

"If Russ was not in the kitchen, he was usually kayaking on a river or lake. Russ had a special place in his heart for the tranquility of the water and never tired of spending hours paddling aimlessly," according to the obituary.
