Term Limits & Non-Partisan Bills Hit the Trash Can - As They Should Have

Another failure by the Libertarian party.

Last night was a perfect example of stopping a political agenda pushed by Bob Boyer and company.  If you'll go back and recall the Republican Caucus in March, it was the same scenario.  Bob Boyer was the head of the Libertarian snake (and I'm not talking about the Gadsen snake. This is more in line with a Copperhead). Matt Hay, Doris Borgelt and numerous others were the body of the snake.  Last night, we had a few others join in to try again to take over the Republican party and change the very fabric.  The others that tried hard were Ken Horton, the Hohmeiers and Richard Blowers.

During this debacle there were heroes. The first was Gail Shorney.  Mrs. Shorney spoke of a letter that was sent to the council members last week.  It was a clear threat to all council members that if they did not "obey" the Jeffco Tea Party, they would be run out of office.  Mrs. Shorney brought up great points.  She was correct that threats, letters of intimidation or bullying tactics do not and should not convince elected officials or county residents to vote in a certain way or accept a candidate because they are part of a group that has been taken over by a tyrannical bunch of people that feel they must shove their ideals down our throats.

I have to say that I wanted to laugh out loud when Ken Horton talked about the council members being wrapped in the Tea Party's flag during their election into office two years ago.  Really, Ken, where were you?  I am on the Central Committee and no one from the Tea Party walked with US when we were walking from door to door getting these people elected.  No one called me or anyone on the Central Committee to help get them interviews or their pictures in the local papers.  So you lie when you say that.  They got themselves elected with NO help from any Tea Party, least of all the one you proclaimed to be leader of.  In fact, most of them got elected on a shoestring budget without the monetary help of ANY party and I know that for a fact because I was on every committee including the Inauguration Committee.  Where was the great Jeffco Tea Party on that night?  I don't recall Kellye Pratt, Ken Horton, Matt Hay or anyone else in the Tea Party that had their mouths open last night stepping up to help with any preparations before the Inauguration or to assist on the night of the Inauguration so don't talk about wrapping people in flags because you and your Tea Party members have done NOTHING!  By the way, Ken, where are those detailed accounting sheets and general ledgers?  I'd like to know and I'm sure the IRS would like to know as well.

Steve Farmer was the other hero of the night.  He spoke of how he was withdrawing as leader of the Jeffco Tea Party.  He spoke eloquently of the true meaning of being an American citizen.  He pointed out that this was definitely done to grandstand during an election year.  He also noted that people are partisan by nature and jamming your ideals at them will not change that.

There were others who spoke up against these atrocious pieces of election-year propaganda and this blogger thanks them.  As far as the Jeffco Tea Party is concerned, they are a dying breed because they now have a corrupt system of leaders and if you donate (they pass the hat on meeting night), you have no idea where your money goes - that sounds familiar to the Obama administration.

Finally, thank you to most of the council members for voting against the bills.  You are wise to follow your ethics and principles, not threats, intimidation and bullying.  That is what being a leader is all about.
