Republican Convention

2012 Republican State Convention

This weekend was the Republican State Convention and it was an enlightening experience.  I am so proud to be a part of a group that showed up to represent our party especially the Council Members.  This group included Don Bickowski, District 1, Renee Reuter, District 2, Charles Groeteke, District 4, and Terri Kreitler from the 5th District.  Unfortunately, there were those that did not show up as delegates even though they signed up to represent their party.  This included a council member and another elected official who swore to uphold the party when he signed up to be a delegate.  Another individual who was a "no show" is running for treasurer of the county.  These are only a few individuals including some elected officials that, due to their absence, created quite a few missing delegates on the Jefferson County slate.  Too bad!

I am aware that there are family obligations, I have them as well, but when it comes to such an important opportunity to stand up for my community and my country, I don't flippantly add my name to a list of delegates.  I am committed to ensuring that my country remains free and there are sacrifices you must make when you do this.  I am also aware that one of our delegates attending the National Convention as a part of the slate did not bother to attend the state convention.  I guess he felt he didn't have to considering he was already a part of the slate going to the national convention.  There are those of us that would have had enough of a sense of conviction to attend both, but we were not asked.  I am glad to be a U.S. citizen where I am still offered these freedoms to become involved.  I thank God for those freedoms and will continue to fight for them for the future generations.
