The Debt Ceiling Deal and Who Holds the Cards

As we prepare for the debt ceiling to raise, America wonders when the spending will stop.

As the wheeling and dealing in Washington continues, a lot of Americans are sitting in their living rooms wondering how this new "crisis" is going to turn out. For three years, our nation has pleaded with the government to stop the spending. Now, with the deficit at over $14 trillion, there is officially no other choice. Obama's credit card just ran out.

In any average American family we all have to balance budgets. If my rent is three months late, my bills are unpaid, and my credit cards go into default, not many people would recommend I sign up for more credit to pay the bills. In Washington, however, this is suddenly a responsible decision. Essentially our credit cards have all run out and the bills are due, so we're getting a Visa.

Fortunately we have a few advocates in Washington who aren't being too agreeable. In 2010 the Tea Party sent the troops into Washington and the freshmen are putting up a fight. It is unfortunate House Speaker John Boehner still has not shown his back bone, but it seems Sarah Palin is determined to help him find it: "PS. Everyone I talk to still believes in contested primaries."

The best plan here seems clear to most of our nation. Spending must be cut, payments must be made, and America has to start balancing a budget. Cut, Cap, and Balance isn't going to fix this; a budget amendment isn't going to fix this; and Obama's whimsical words and TelePrompTer are not going to fix this. Yet, with his nose held so high he would go blind on a sunny day, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has decided to fight for a debt ceiling raise of $2.4 trillion! This is NOT a solution to the problem, its simply permission to spread it around. Fortunately, this will not be the case, thanks to Tea Party Republicans.

The agreement we are looking at is not what we need, but it will suffice. It appears as if $900 billion in cuts will take effect. The problem is it occurs over 10 years. In many ways though, this makes up for the blow that was dealt to House Republicans in the budget dealings earlier this year. Now that our president has outspent himself, he has to start making cuts or making payments and we know Obama doesn't plan to pay the electric bill anytime soon.

As part the $900 billion in cuts, we will finally get to reform our entitlements, a growing cancer on our federal bank account. This will, at least, put a foot in the door for conservatives to start fixing that mess. One of the bigger problems comes in the exchange for this, which is cuts to the defense budget. America should always be wary about defense cuts. This often equates to a decrease in pay or benefits to our troops, the people protecting and serving our nation with their very lives. We would all like to see the cuts dealt directly to the suits in Washington, but until Sarah Palin is sworn in we should not hold our breath.

In the large scope this was a compromise that had to happen, but it only had to happen because of the leftist control in the Senate and Boehner's own incompetence. It is truly my hope that he loses his seat to a more conservative congressman in the near future! This situation and the budget dealings earlier this year must not go unnoticed. This is what happens when you fail to put conservatives in office!

The freshmen have been fighting and now its time to call out the Senate. Reid and his cronies are working harder than ever to carry out the Obama Agenda. Fortunately 2012 is right around the corner. In our fight for the White House, we cannot forget the Senate race in 2012. It's time to get the majority out and conservatives in. It is essential that conservatives take Capitol Hill by storm. At this point we are half way to where we need to be.

PS. Everyone I talk to agrees with Sarah Palin, we believe in contested primaries!
