Gas, Grain, Groceries: Government Mandated Inflation, Homicide for Your Wallet

With prices at an all time high and the average household income at an all time low, have liberal policies finally gone too far?

Recently gas prices have gone sky high. This is accompanied by the rise in cost at the grocery counter, in the pharmacy and generally anywhere else you might want to spend the small amount that the economy is allowing you to budget. It was just a few years ago, summer 2007, that prices at the pump were back to around $1.50 per gallon.

So what happened? In 2009 our federal government swapped hands. Since then unemployment has fluctuated around 9 percent, roughly estimated at around 14 million people. Oil prices have skyrocketed, and it's never been more expensive to feed not only ourselves, but our families.

This is the result of two years of the worst policies in America's short history. In a mere 1 percent of our time as a nation, the liberal politicians running Washington have brought the free world to its knees.  The Federal Reserve instituted controlled inflation (Quantitative Easing) and tried to buy its own debts. People like Sarah Palin warned this would devalue the dollar, and it did. War has spread to Libya, a major oil provider, and now gas prices have doubled. Ethanol, a form of "green energy," is 10 percent of that gallon of gas you pump, and has effectively caused the prices of corn, other grains and sugar (which are the base of the product) to triple in the last few years, but Obama wants to invest more into this expensive alternative to already overpriced fuels. EPA and federal regulations have tied up American oil and resources, burdened farmers, and overwhelmed production in our nation, making it impossible to create or sell goods at a reasonable cost.

One begins to wonder what happened to hope. We all have plenty of change, whether or not it is for the better is up for speculation. One thing is for sure, as Washington continues to abuse the American people as their own private spending account, we're forced to tie the purse strings tighter here at home. With uncertain savings and little job security, we now see our government at its worst. Edward R. Murrow said, "A nation of sheep soon begets a government of wolves," and I can hear Obama and his cronies howling from here. It's time for the sheep to be shorn and the American people to speak out. Will it be liberty or death for the American dollar?
