On Thursday Team Activites for Special Kids (TASK) celebrated the first game at their new ball field.
The project was made possible by a $50,000 investment coinciding with the 20th anniversary of “The Sandlot.” The all-accessible field was designed with the needs of disabled children in mind, according to a news release.
"The Sandlot" star Patrick Renna and director David Mickey Evans were on hand to help out with the first game--Renna even caught the first pitch, courtesy of Fredbird. Representatives from Cardinals Care, FOX Sports Midwest and 20th Century FOX Home Entertainment were also in attendance.
