The Shoes For Life Drive Wants Your Shoes!

Help provide fresh drinking water to developing countries through your shoes!

St. Louis, MO – The Shoeman Water Projects, a non-profit charity, is partnering with Kingdom Seeds Outreach to collect shoes and turn them into clean drinking water. The shoes will get a second life as affordable shoes in developing countries, and their sale will fund drills or water filtration systems that can access fresh water.

The organizers are accepting new or gently used shoes. They need to be tied or bagged together. But, if you forget, they will still accept. Every donation will go to the purchase of equipment needed. The goal is to collect 250,000 shoes at the three-day event.

Visit one of 25 participating Wal-Mart stores in the St. Louis region. They will be accepting donations from Thursday, June 14 – Saturday, June 16 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the following locations.

Arnold, Belleville, Chesterfield, Collinsville, Eureka, Farmington, Fenton, Festus, House Springs, Kirkwood, Lake St. Louis, Manchester, Maplewood, O’Fallon, IL, O’Fallon, MO, Potosi, West Florissant, Telegraph Road, St. Charles, St. Peters, Sullivan, Warrenton, Washington, Waterloo, Wentzville

To help spread the word 99.1 Joy FM will be at one of the Wal-Mart locations on Saturday, June 16. In addition, St. Louis Green and Landmark Signs will be on hand to support the effort. Organizers are looking for additional volunteers to help move shoes. You can sign up directly at www.ksoutreach.com.

“Partnering with Shoeman Water Projects is a natural fit for Kingdom Seeds Outreach,” said Rochelle Weidinger, Co-Founder. “We have seen the despair in people’s eyes that lack the resources of having fresh drinking water. Shoeman Water Projects collects an estimated one million shoes each year taking up space in people’s closets and turns them into water wells or well drilling equipment.”

Shoeman Water Projects has distributed more than two million pairs of shoes since 2008. Any shoes collected that cannot be used are recycled.

“We need partners like Kingdom Seeds Outreach who have the same vision,” said George Hutchings, the Shoeman Water Projects founder and CEO. “Donating shoes is one of the most simple acts you can do, and it provides footwear for the shoeless and water for the thirsty.”
