The Bridge is Open!!!!

Come celebrate the opening of the new bridge during Fenton Days August 25th

Friday August 17, sometime in the morning, Gravois Bridge quietly opened.  Word started getting around on Facebook, text messages and phone calls.  I was able to close my business early and join a group of friends at Joe Clark's to toast the opening with a few beers.  Of course all of us had to drive the bridge a few times.  I wonder if we will ever know who drove it first.

The old bridge was built in 1925, became obsolete in 1968 due to the opening of Highway 30, closed in 2007 and was demolished in 2010.

I have been photographing the old bridge since 2008 and the new bridge as it was being constructed, so I thought I would post some of the photos.

There will also be a full viewing August 25 from 9am to 5pm.
