'Ten Years Later, We Will Never Forget' Ceremony in Fenton City Park to Mark Sept. 11 Terrorist Attacks

World Trade Center survivor to be featured speaker.

A survivor of the World Trade Center attacks on Sept. 11, 2011, will be the featured speaker at a 10th anniverary observance of 9/11 at the Heroes Memorial in The memorial observance will start at 1 p.m.

The main speaker at the ceremony, called "Ten Years Later, We Will Never Forget," will be Kevin Whitehead, a native of Belleville who now lives in Richmond Heights. Whitehead was in a stairwell in the south tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11, but managed to escape from the building unharmed. He works as a St. Louis market manager for Wells Fargo Advisors.

Also scheduled to speak at the 9/11 observance is Fenton Mayor Dennis Hancock. Cub Scout Pack 776 from will do a "presentation of the colors" during the program. "Taps" will be performed by Eagle Scout Joshua Greathouse.

To recognize heroes, Captain Jeff Bader of the and deputy Chief John Batterton of the will participate in the laying of wreaths at the Heroes Memorial. Members of Y.E.A.H.(Youth Excited About Helping) will take part in the laying of the roses during the observance to commemorate the victims of 9/11.

Chamber Choir will perform the "National Anthem and "God Bless America." The St. Louis County Police Bagpipers will perform "Amazing Grace."
