Rockwood South Middle School Jumps At the Challenge

Students, Teachers, and Faculty commit to doing 200,000 jumping jacks in one day as a part of St. John's Mercy Medical's Healthification day.

When Rockwood South’s sixth grade math teacher, Katie Seversen, learned about the Healthification 1,000,000 jumping jack challenge at St. John’s Mercy Medical, she knew right away she wanted to get the school involved.

“My neighbor works for Mercy Medical and told me about the challenge. We decided to scale it back for the size of our school, so we pledged 200,000 jumping jacks. We asked the kids to make individual pledges and keep track of their totals on their own,” said Seversen.

Though the school committed to 200,000 jumping jacks last week, the students went above and beyond, completing 507,180 jumping jacks by the end of the day.
