Meramec River Flood Knocks Down Bridge Support

A rebar column that was to be used to support the concrete for a third bridge pier for the new Gravois Road bridge succumbs to the fast flowing river.

The rebar support column for the new bridge at first was bent, and then knocked over by the Meramec River as it heads towards a crest Saturday.

The Meramec River level was 25.7 feet Thursday night and is expected to crest at 27.5 feet Saturday morning. At 27 feet, Highway 141 at I-44 begins to flood. The Missouri Department of Transportation was prepared to close Hwy. 141 Friday morning.
