High Ridge Fire Department to Host Foreclosure Prevention Fair

Several agencies will be on hand to provide financial advice to homeowners who have mortgage problems or who face foreclosure on their homes.

The Jefferson County Housing Task Force is working with ClearPoint Credit Counseling Solutions and other agencies to bring a wealth of information to homeowners who are in danger of missing a mortgage payment or who are seeking ways to improve their financial situation.

The task force has scheduled a Foreclosure Prevention Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 8 at the , 2842 High Ridge Blvd., High Ridge.

No registration is required for the event, which also will feature representatives from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Beyond Housing and the United Way.

Homeowners are encouraged to attend the fair to learn about options to foreclosure and to find ways to avoid foreclosure.

Those who seek forclosure mitigation or want to avoid foreclosure default are asked to bring several documents to the fair, including:

  • a current monthly mortgage statement.
  • Tax statements for the past two years.
  • proof of income for the last 30 days that also shows year-to-date earnings.
  • two most recent bank statements (savings, checking, CDs, IRAs, stocks and bonds).

The advice and counseling at the foreclosure prevention fair is free.
