Fenton Down, High Ridge Up in 2010 Population
St. Louis County sees a significant population decrease; Jefferson County experiences a significant rise in numbers according to the U.S. Census Bureau
High Ridge is up and Fenton is down according to population figures released today by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The numbers show the City of Fenton lost 338 residents, a drop of 7.7 percent, in the last 10 years. Fenton's 2010 population is 4,022.
High Ridge, on the other hand, grew slightly, by 69 people, a 1.6 percent rise. The 2010 population in High Ridge is 4,305, according to the census numbers.

St. Louis County dropped 1.7 percent, down 17,361 residents. The St. Louis County 2010 population is 998,954.
In Jefferson County it's another story, with a population increase of 10.4 percent between 2000 and 2010. Jefferson County's 2010 population is 218,733.

Missouri’s population is 5,988,927 as of April 1, 2010 and showed a growth of 393,716 persons, or 7 percent, during the first decade of the new millennium, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The nation’s population had grown at a rate of 10 percent during the same period.
Missouri and the nation grew at a slightly slower pace this last decade than in the 1990s. Missouri grew at a rate of 9 percent in the 1990s, while the nation’s growth rate was 13 percent during that same period.
