Ambulance District Donates Equipment, Classes

The donations are part of a North Jefferson County Ambulance District community program.

Life-saving equipment and instruction are at the heart of donations recently made by the the in High Ridge.

The district provided cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) equipment and first aid training to the in High Ridge.

"There is a great need nationwide to educate communities in lifesaving techniques and skills to increase the chance of a life being saved", said Assistant Chief Jamie Guinn, "Effective CPR provided
immediately after sudden cardiac arrest can double or triple a victim's chance of survival."

If more people had CPR training, the number of individuals who die from sudden cardiac arrest could be dramatically reduced, Guinn said.

NJCAD nstructors are available to educate the community in life saving techniques and skills. Monthly CPR and first aid training classes are offered at district's  headquarters at 2820 Horrell Lane, High Ridge. Off site classes also are available. These classes teach the basics of CPR for adults, children and infants. Instruction also is provided in management of foreign body airway obstructions (Heimlich maneuver). The first aid class includes basic instructions on what to do in the event of a medical emergency.
