DIY Minecraft Christmas Ornaments

Is your kid into Minecraft like my kid is right now? Maybe you saw Mitch's Halloween costume? Yeah, we're liking some major Minecraft around here!

Mitch also likes to craft with me–and I like to craft for the blog–so we decided to whack a whole bunch of birds with one stone: Minecraft Christmas Ornaments!

We made a couple iconic Minecraft elements: grass blocks and a Creeper. (If you're totally lost right now and wondering what a Ceeper is, go ask a little boy. He'll clue you in.)

The simplest grass block was made by coating the inside of a square Christmas ornament with gold glitter, then painting a layer of glue on the outside for the green glitter to represent grass. You could do the same thing with brown and white glitter to have a snow covered block.

The other blocks were made by sticking squares of glitter tape to the ornament in the pattern of a grass block or a Creeper head. You can see how it turned out on the photos.

I found all my supplies (including the square ornaments) at Michaels on Gravois Bluffs in Fenton.
