Comments: Hepatitis A records were not up to date.

Kyoto Sushi & Grill, 657 Gravois Rd.
Inspection date: March 28

The following comments were included in the report:

  • The inspector observed a child sleeping in a pack-and-go crib in the kitchen. “Living and sleeping quarters need to be segregated and not conducted in a food establishment,” the inspection noted.
  • Cooking utensils were being stored in a hand sink
  • Chicken was stored above ready-to-eat foods in the walk-in cooler
  • Microwave had heavy debris build-up and was recommended for cleaning
  • Some foods were stored less than 6 inches above the ground in the walk-in cooler
  • Single service cups were being used as scoopers in rice bags
  • A hand sink in the prep area was not working properly
  • Debris and dust build-up on the oven hood
  • Employee coats were being stored on shelves reserved for food 

Maggie Moo’s, 699 Gravois Bluffs
Inspection date: March 14
Grade: A (96)
Comments: The facility will have 30 days to provide up to date Hepatitis A immunization records for all employees and food protection certification for managers on duty. The inspector noted that no paper towels were available at a hand sink, no light shield in the walk-in cooler, and no seal on the back door to prevent pest entry. A follow-up was scheduled for April 15.

Maggie’s Lunch Box, 867 Horan Dr.
Inspection date: March 28
Grade: A (99)
Comments: An employee drink stored in the prep area was covered but did not have a straw. Some boxes of food in the freezer were not stored at least six inches above the floor. A spray bottle was not properly labeled with its ingredients. 

McDonald’s, 501 Old Smizer Rd.
Inspection date: March 11
Grade: A (100)
Comments: The facility contacted a plumbing company when water was not flowing from a women’s restroom faucet. An aerator was cleaned and the restaurant hasn’t had any additional plumbing issues, according to the report.

Qdoba Mexican Grill, 180 Gravois Bluffs Circle
Inspection date: March 25
Grade: A (98)
Comments: Hepatitis A immunization records were not up to date. The inspector also noted an illegal valve on a mop sink that did not have a proper backflow device. The item must be corrected within 30 days.

Red Robin, 130 Gravois Bluffs Circle
Inspection date: March 26
Grade: B (80)
The following comments were included in the report:

  • An employee had a cup with no covering in a food area
  • Corn dogs stored in the walk-in freezer were not in proper packaging
  • Cheese by the grill did not have a ‘discard by’ time written on the packaging
  • Degreaser, a toxic material, was being stored above utensils in the dish room
  • The inspector noted a broken thermometer in the walk-in cooler
  • Floor mats were being stored on an ice machine
  • Ice machine was not in a good state of repair, and recommended for replacement and cleaning
  • Some parts of the plumbing system were in need of repair or replacement
  • Debris accumulation was noted behind a hand sink
  • Employee clothing and possession were being stored in food areas
  • A cold food holding unit is in need of repair

Burger King, 1036 Bowles Ave.
Inspection date: March 25
Grade: A (98)
Comments: A mold-like substance was found built up on the main ice machine. The inspector also noted an illegal valve on a mop sink that did not have a proper backflow device. The item must be corrected within 30 days.
