Family Blooms in High Ridge Floral Business

Your Family Florist gives new meaning to a family-owned business.

When Stacy Sims and her mother Susan Braun of aren’t arranging flowers or on a delivery, chances are they are tending to the youngest members of the clan.

Just a week after opening the High Ridge business, Sims found out that she was pregnant with twins. After having the baby girls, she was back to work the next week with both children in tow.

“They actually grew up in the business,” Sims said. “They came to work with me every day – we had the high chairs and cribs all set up. And now my sister’s kids are here with us. But we love it, we don’t have to hire a sitter.”

Zachery Sims, Sims’ 15-year-old son, also helps out with his two young nieces while at the shop and occasionally works there when he needs flowers for school dances.

“Of course, he works here all day for one corsage,” Braun said laughing.

And many of the company’s customers have become like family over the years. Sims said that almost two years after they were open, Schnucks went on strike, and a new customer had come into the shop at 4:45 p.m. and wanted a special arrangement designed for his wife’s birthday that day and every day of the week leading up to her birthday. The shop closed at 5 p.m., and Sims scrambled to design the arrangement.

“We also delivered a life-sized teddy bear to her office and decorated her office for her birthday,” Braun said. “He’s been coming back ever since. If we don’t see him at least once a week, something must be wrong. He calls Stacy his adopted daughter.”

Sims and Braun opened the business in 2001 at 3102 High Ridge Blvd. In 2008, they moved the company to its current location at 2797 High Ridge Blvd.

“We like the small town feel of the community,” said Sims, a 1992 graduate of Northwest High School.
