Ornaments for Officers To Benefit Backstoppers

There still is time to donate holiday ornaments to the cause, designed to raise funds for the first responders who have been killed or permanently injured in the line of duty

Christmas ornaments are at the heart of a new fund-raising program designed to benefit Backstoppers, a group dedicated to assist the families of police, fire and EMS officers who have been killed or permanently injured in the line of duty.

The program, called Ornaments for Officers, allows people and organizations to donate to Backstoppers holiday ornaments that are in good shape. The baubles will be used to decorate Christmas trees located in businesses throughout the area. Any donated ornament will be available for purchase for $3.

The group's goal during this initial year for the program is to raise $20,000 and to make the fundraiser an annual event.
