Many Fingers Were Licked as the Kids Built Peeps Houses
Kids use cereal pieces, jelly beans, cake frosting and graham crackers to make homes for the sugary marshmallow treats called Peeps.
The tables in the Storytime Room at the Northwest Branch of the Jefferson County Library were filled with assorted goodies for the children, aged 4 and up, who arrived with their parents to embark on a building program. Various goodies were the tools of their trade, including graham crackers, cake frosting, jelly beans and piece of dry cereal as they constructed Peeps houses, small structures cemented together with the frosting to build a shelter of sorts for the popular Eastertime confection called Peeps.
Many fingers were licked in the process of the home building and some Peeps never did get a home as the kid builders devoured them before they moved in. In the end a very well-behaved group of children showing few signs of a sugar high, left the room trying to figure out how to transport their Peeps structures home with it falling apart in the car.
