Jefferson County Library Announces Book Browser App

The new library app for mobile phones allows patrons to browse, place holds, and renew books, among other features.

The Jefferson County Library has announced it now has a new app for mobile phones available for library patrons. The free BookMyne app is available from the App Store or Google Play (formerly Android Market). The app can be used to browse the library catalog, place holds, view your account and renew items, among many other features.

Patrons can search for their JCL branch via GPS or by an address search, by selecting their local branch as their home library, entering their library card and pin number under the My Account section.

Meredith McCarthy, of the Jefferson County Library, points out a particularly effective feature of the new library app -- the "search by bar code" function. Patrons can scan the a bar code on a book with a smart phone's camera and it will search the library's catalog, allowing users to place a hold on a book immediately.
