Remembering September 11 is Focus of Ceremony Today at Fenton's Heroes Memorial

U.S. Army Col. Greg Barrack will be the speaker at a ceremony at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday as the commemorates the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks at the Heroes Memorial in to commemorate the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.

Barrack reported in July, 2012 for service as the Senior Active Army Advisor to the Missouri National Guard. As Senior Army Advisor, his duties include serving as president of the Federal Recognition Boards for promotion of Missouri’s Army National Guard Officers. Prior to assuming his current duties, Barrack served from 2009 to 2012, as the U.S. Senior Defense Official at the U.S. Embassy, Republic of Panama. Barrack worked closely with the Missouri National Guard, which partners with Panama’s security institutions within the Defense Department’s State Partnership Program. Barrack also served as U.S. Defense Attaché in El Salvador from 2006 to 2009, where he was responsible for orchestrating the visits to El Salvador of Secretary of Defense Gates, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mullen, USCG Commandant Allen and numerous other high level Defense Department officials.

As a Lieutenant Colonel, Barrack served from 2001 to 2004 on the Joint Staff in the Pentagon in the Latin American Politico-Military Affairs Division of the Directorate for Strategic Plans & Policy. He was serving there during the attacks of 911. Barrack is a native of Northwest Arkansas. He graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Texas A & M University in 1984, commissioned in the Infantry. His infantry service includes command and staff positions in the Continental U.S. and overseas. He served as executive officer of the Jungle Operations Training Battalion, Fort Sherman, Panama, supporting U.S. Army Ranger, Army & Marine Corps infantry battalions, Army Special Forces, Navy SEALS, and Air Force Special Operations and foreign units; Barrack also served with the 4th and 7th Infantry Divisions.

Married with three children, Barrack is stationed in Jefferson City, MO.
