Are These Jefferson County Christmas Displays Too "Over-the-Top?"

Our partners at Fox2 found an Arnold display showing Santa holding the rope on a bleeding deer in lights and another one in Barnhart with Santa taking a potty break.

Distasteful or representative of the Jefferson County community?

That's the question arising from the discovery of two Christmas displays—one in Arnold and the other in Barnhart—featuring bleeding deer in lights hanging from their feet. The Barnhart home also includes Santa urinating in lights from the rooftop.

Our partners at Fox2 found the displays and interviewed homeowners and neighbors.

The station learned the Arnold display was part of what the family calls its "Gawdy Christmas" theme. One family member told FOX-2's Andy Banker that Jefferson County is a hunting community.

In Barnhart, Fox2 found that the bleeding deer display was set in the yard of the home as a joke on the homeowner, who responded by placing Santa taking a potty break on the roof.

For the most part, neighbors near both homes laughed off the displays; others were offended, the station reports.

So, what do you think? Are the displays too far over-the-top? Tell us in comments!
