4 Snacks Favored by Movie-goers at the Great Escape Theater

Patch asks what snacks are must haves when movie-goers sit down in front of the big screen.

Going to a movie isn’t the same without a big box of your favorite treat to munch on during the show. Movie theaters know this too, which might explain why they have the best popcorn in town, not to mention boxes of candy bigger than your head.

Patch asked the staff of Gravois Bluff’s which snacks are the most popular among Fenton’s movie fans:

#4 Sno-Caps: The 4th most popular treat at Great Escape is the Sno-Cap, a delightful disc of chocolate covered in pure sugar sprinkles. According to Nestle, the makers of Sno-Caps, this candy has been enjoyed by movie-goers for nearly 50 years. Interestingly enough, the rattling noise of shaking a box of Sno-Caps has been annoying other movie-goers for about 49.5 years.

#3 Twizzlers: It takes 15 hours to make this popular licorice treat, but they still don’t make it through the trailers. Twizzlers were invented in 1929, the same year as the first Academy Awards ceremony.

#2 Cookie Dough Bites: The best selling candy at Great Escape is also the newest on the list. Cookie Dough Bites were invented in 1997 as a way to get all the yummy goodness of raw cookie dough without all the, you know, salmonella.

#1 Popcorn: The number one, best selling movie snack is…popcorn! This snack pre-dates movie theaters, talking pictures and the written word. American’s eat 17.3 billion quarts of popped popcorn  each year. Just make sure you share your bucket with a friend (or two), because a large movie theater popcorn can have as many calories as three Big Macs!
