2013 American Legion Legacy Run

On Sunday, August 18, 2013 around 3 PM, the 2013 American Legion Legacy Run Riders will be heading Westbound on Interstate 44, having originated from the American Legion National Headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, and terminating in Houston, Texas, the site of the American Legion’s 95th, 2013 National Convention, a five day, 1,500 mile trip. Local American Legion members will gather on the bridge that crosses Interstate Highway 44, located at South Outer 44 and Valley Park Drive next to the Maritz Corporation Complex, to welcome over 400 riders as they pass under the bridge. The Fenton and Valley Park Fire Departments will be displaying the American Flag from the top of their ladder trucks. Maritz is providing parking in their lot next to the bridge. All members of the community are invited to attend. Remember to bring your flags, banners or any other Patriotic items.

Since 2006 The American Legion Legacy Runs have raised over $3.5M for the children of our fallen comrades. To date The American Legion Legacy Scholarship has awarded $191,970 in scholarship grants to 99 deserving students attending post-secondary education across America, but the sheer numbers of eligible children increase each year. Our ultimate goal is to raise at least $20M to meet the needs of the young people who will need our help completing a college education for many years to come. The American Legion Riders and The American Legion Family have made a tremendous beginning towards reaching this important long-term milestone.
