The Northwest Valley Math Club recently successfully competed in 11th Annual Estimation Golf Tournament Competition at St. Louis Community College, Florissant Valley and Florissant Valley Community College. The 7th Grade Estimation Golf team from Northwest Valley, which included Kaitlyn Ashwell, Liz Lueken and Tyler Warren finished first among the 20 teams at its grade level. More than 60 fifth-graders in the Lindbergh Schools LEAP program for gifted students ended their year with an out-of-this-world experience at Space Camp. Lindbergh director of commmunity relations reports tat, each year, students spend the school year studying space and aeronautics, then blast off for a weeklong trip to the U.S. Rocket and Aviation Center in Huntsville, Ala. Upon arrival, students were placed on teams and worked together all week studying space exploration and preparing for two simulated missions aboard the International Space Station. Thirty-five members of the Rockwood Swim Club Association (RSCA) participated in the Adam Morgan (AM) Fun Run, a fundraiser for families raising children with autism. Kelley Morrison, assistant national group coach led the RSCA group, which included swimmers, coaches and parents. "The AM Fun Run was a great event for our club to become involved with," said Morrison. "Rachel Morgan, Adam Morgan's mother, organized an incredible race, with prizes, food, and entertainment afterward. The run was not only fun, but also for a great cause. Lindbergh High School sophomore Chris Rezabek makes a habit of shopping local used book sales, but he isn’t amassing volumes for his personal library, he’s reselling the books online and building a small business from the ground up. Since November, 16-year-old Chris, of Fenton, has sold more than 650 used books on Amazon.com, as founder and CEO of his online store, www.stlbookscout.com. On Feb. 5, STLbookscout became officially incorporated as an LLC in the state of Missouri.
