Oakville, Seckman and Rockwood Summit have a combined record of just over .500 (15-14), but all three teams are preparing for the first round of the state playoffs after advancing in district play. Oakville (5-5) will travel to St. Louis University High (7-3) in a Class 6 playoff game Friday night. The Tigers not only lost their finale against Eureka but also lost their top player, Javon Henderson, with a knee injury. Javon's brother, Jaron, picked up some of the slack Friday as he caught 12 passes for 157 yards against the Wildcats including a touchdown. Andy Oliver completed 22 of 34 passes…
Golf and tennis state tournaments were held last week. A local golfer, senior Lindsey Eisenreich of Rockwood Summit captured the Class 2 championship. The scheduled 36-hole event was shortened to 18 holes because of rain but Eisenreich left little doubt as to who the best player in the field was this fall. Eisenreich shot a 72 on the par 70 Sedalia Country Club Course. That was a whopping eight strokes better than second place finisher, Sun Young Jung of Springfield Glendale. Three Cor Jesu golfers tied for 59th place. Melanie Book, Rachel Dean and Angela Moro each shot a 96. Rockwood Summit'…

However, the Cavaliers scored a pair of touchdowns in the final two minutes of the game to record a thrilling 44-40 come-from-behind victory. Demontay Patrick rushed for 197 yards on 36 carries for the Cougars, who rushed for 364 yards as a …
Seckman freshman Maddy Strickland started the season on the Jaguar junior varsity softball team. But the first baseman was brought up to the varsity and found herself in the most crucial of situations Thursday in the Class 4 District 2 semifinals against Lindbergh. The Jaguars had come back from a 5-3 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game on a two-run single by Alison Szydlowski. The bases were loaded with one out when Strickland stepped to the plate. She lined a single up the middle for a walk-off winner. "I was never even expecting to be on the varsity this year," said…
