There's a new sign at the newest Fenton landmark as the Olde Towne Fenton pavilion is now finished. While there may be a few minor details to wrap up before it officially can be called complete, the Olde Towne Pavilion is destined to be a meeting place of sorts in the city. There are several parking spots available around the sturdy, covered pavilion, a structure that some hope could become the site of a farmer's market on eekends. As yet, no organization has proposed such a use, much less stepped up to make sure a farmer's market would be regularly staffed. The City of Fenton prefers to be …
With the milder weather in evidence Friday and promised for the weekend, homeowners have use the opportunity to install their outdoor Christmas lights and other decorations. Still, it was surprise Friday to see an eight-foot artificial Christmas tree in a tree stand in the middle of the driveway in the middle of the afternoon at a Fenton area home in the Romaine Spring Estates subdivision. A sign attached to the tree said: "Free Christmas tree. Lights still work (No questions asked)." Actually I had a lot of questions about the free Yuletide offering, but the homeowner wasn't home to answer …
Pat Dreyer, of Fenton, had never painted yellow lines on a parking lot before Monday, but she seemed to have mastered the job on the lot at 313 Gravois Road in Olde Towne, laying down fresh parking lanes on the lot serving a new arts and crafts business called Gilded Crafts. While Dreyer was rolling on the yellow paint, several others were busy with the inside work of laying floors, power washing the basement and applying fresh paint to the interior of the building that most recently ws the site of the Green House Market. More information to come as this business prepares itself as the newest…

Lindbergh students decided they wanted to do something a little different this year when it was time to take the annual student body photograph. So, using marching band software, the word "Lindbergh was mapped out on the football field. All that was left was for the students and the teaching ataff to fill in the rest. The photo of the entire 2004-member student body and teaching staff was taken from the football field press box. Director of community relations Beth Cross shared the result of the photo shoot.
The up and down levels (mostly up) of the Meramec River this year and last has caused delay after delay in the completion of the new Old Gravois Road Bridge in Fenton. The "Frustration Bridge" is still on hold as the Meramec was rising this week, cresting at 23.3 feet Thursday, and expected to drop to 19 feet by next Friday. And that's only if no more rain falls here or in the watershed that feeds into the Meramec. The bad news is that's still six feet too high for workers to reinstall the flood-damaged bridge support before being freed from the vagaries of the river levels. If the river …
Christine Manes, the proprietor of Green House Market, has a penchant for pithy quotes that she shares with the public. Her latest is the Yogi Berra quip, "A dime ain't worth a plugged nickel anymore." Despite pondering the meaning a "plugged" nickel, the Yogi line certainly says something about the state of the economy these days. Christine gathers her quotable material from a variety of sources, including Mark Twain, Mother Teresa, Walt Disney and others. Here are two more: "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." - Abe Lincoln "Life …
