For 12 years a group local “Fentonians” have been plunging into the icy waters of the Meramec River at high noon on New Years Day. There are usually 20 to 30 people who take the icy plunge, and 100 or so spectators.
The group started with 5 in 2002; Chris Seemayer, Paul Seemayer, Neal Seemayer, Greg Moore, and Jimmie Wantuck. Wantuck is the only one who has made every one of the events and is always the first one in.
The yearly event takes place under the Highway 30 bridge on the River Road in Old Towne Fenton.
I am very happy to be a photographer for this event, since it gives me a great excuse to avoid the “plunge”
I love the frozen expressions on their faces.
Happy Trails

My two sons and two of their friends did this plunge. We were there for support and to provide blankets and a warm car for afterwards. Great group of people - they plan on doing it every year! Matt is featured in one of your pictures - the caption is : Frozen!
