Hidden Bridges of the Meramec

When the waters on the Meramec River are high, we like to travel up river towards Eureka, due to the fact that this part of the river becomes impassable with most boats at normal levels. We discovered the two bridges (railroad trestles) during the flood of 2008 and visit them a few times a year. At normal river levels, the bridges can be visited on foot. Both are near a century old, and appear to be in excellent condition. They are absolutely beautiful viewed from below.

The third one is my favorite. Like the beginning of a fairytale. The group together are very strong and would be awesome displayed in the same room. As always, love your work, but love you even more.

Thank you again for showing us what a beautiful world we live in! In today's busy society we tend to take the natural beauty of our surroundings for granted. Thank you for opening our eyes and reminding us to appreciate the simple beauty of life.

Ferd,

I've been a river rat since I was a wee boy. I was taught all my river "knowledge", (navigating the currents, cleaning catfish, drinking beer, never meeting a stranger on the water), by my beloved, and sorely missed, Grandpa, in a 12 foot jon boat with a 5 horse Johnson motor. Your photographs and blogs take me back to a simpler and happy time in my life and I thank you for that. Please keep it up, I thoroughly enjoy what you do.

Regards,
T.J.
