Fatal Crash in MoDOT I-270 Work Zone

One person was killed Friday morning when a work vehicle was struck in the Interstate 270 work zone between Interstate 44 and Manchester Road.

The crash happened around 3:15 a.m. Friday in the northbound lanes of I-270 near Dougherty Ferry Road when a driver struck a worker's vehicle, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

Ronald Schuh, 37, of Pevely, was killed in the crash according to the report. Police said Schuh's car was struck by Emily Davis, 41, of Fenton, as she changed lanes in a work zone. Schuh's vehicle then struck a rock bluff and overturned. Davis' vehicle also struck a worker's parked car.

The crash had traffic on Interstate 270 backed up for hours, into the morning rush hour.

Kara Price, a spokeswoman for the Missouri Department of Transportation confirms the accident happened in She stated that a water truck contracted by MoDOT that was parked on the side of the interstate was struck by another vehicle.

The I-270 widening project has some traffic lanes shut down between Manchester Road and Highway 44 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. through May.
