The Northwest High School Fashion Club and Angie LaRue, owner of Trendy One, a fashion resale store in House Springs are hosting an event called Project Prom that culminates at Northwest High School Feb. 20.

The idea, LaRue says, is to allow students to swap a prom dress for another and to help raise scholarship funds. The event will allow a student to swap a prom dress and buy another one for $20. Dresses also may be purchased without a swap for $30.

The main goal now is to get the donated dresses and prepare them for the Project Prom event, which takes place during advisory hours between 9 and 10:30 a.m. and again after school from 2:20 to 7 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Northwest High School lecture hall. Dress donations can be made at Room 174 or to the main office an Northwest High School.

LaRue, who is a Northwest High School alumnus, opened her store at 4642 House Springs Center, next to Price Chopper, in House Springs. She says the items in her store are for all teenagers and for adults who want to be trendy. The slogan for her store is "You won't believe it's resale"

LaRue hopes the dress donations will allow students to be able to afford to go to the prom and still be fashionable.
