House For Sale Broken Into in High Ridge

Walnut Ridge Drive, High Ridge
A house for sale on Walnut Ridge Drive, High Ridge, was broken into on Jan. 26. In addition to damage on a side door window and damage to a basement door lock, missing were an air conditioner coil, an external air conditioner and copper ground wire. The cost of the damage and the missing items was set at $1,850. Entry to the home was forced through the upstairs side door.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy's report, the prospective homebuyer and his real estate agent discovered the break-in on Jan. 26. The buyer told a deputy he discovered a jacket inside the home with a prescription bottle in a pocket with a name on it. Although the prescription bottle was turned over to police, the buyer told the deputy the real estate agent had thrown away the jacket because it "smelled badly." An investigation is ongoing.
Antire Road, High Ridge
An air conditioner coil from an inside air conditioner was stolen from a home on Antire Road, High Ridge. The theft was discovered on Jan. 29. The sheriff's report indicated that entry to the home was made through a rear door. The report indicated the home had been broken into multiple times and several items had been missing. The value of the air conditioner coil was set at $700.
Antire Road, High Ridge
Someone fired a bullet Jan. 24 into a home on Antire Road, High Ridge. The bullet travelled through the wall of the home and then through a baseboard heater before coming to rest inside the home. The homeowner noticed the damage on Jan. 24 but did not know what caused it until Jan. 30 at which time he contacted the sheriff's department. The homeowner said he knew of no one who might have fired a weapon into his home and hadn't had any problems with anyone, according to the deputy's report.
