The preseason scrimmage at Oakville was a “wake-up call,” for head coach Mike Bellers and his Rockwood Summit football team.
“It’s what you would expect in a scrimmage; it was sloppy and I think that we probably came over here a little bit too relaxed,” he said.

The Falcons played Oakville, Hazelwood East and Vianney and each team got 12 plays on offense and defense in the scrimmage.
The coach said in addition to being more physical, the team needed to tighten up its snaps and line up correctly.
“But there’s promise,” he said. “I think we came out of it and got better as the night went on but I’m certainly glad that we had that experience so we can work a little harder and be a little better next week.”
The team opens its season Aug. 24 against Chaminade at home.
