Nanny Suspected of Stealing Dad's Gun and Children's Piggy Bank Money
The Arnold couple hired the woman from Craigslist. After only two days of work, they noticed a gun and about $80 in cash were missing from their home.
A nanny is suspected of stealing a gun and money from children's piggy banks, according an Arnold couple who hired the woman from Craigslist.
Officers from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department responded to a call regarding a theft on Mill Ridge Drive in Arnold on Nov. 5 where a Heritage six-shot revolver/Rough Rider 22-caliber Magnum combo and about $80 in cash were reported stolen.
The victim told police he hired the nanny through Craigslist on Friday, Nov. 2, and that he and his wife noticed about $20 in cash missing from the residence. The man said he confronted the nanny, who denied the accusation.
The man told police the nanny showed up for work on Nov. 5 and when he returned home from work, she ran through the home stating she had to get out of there. The victim said he thought that was suspicious and checked his children's piggy banks, which were missing about $60 in cash.
The man said he went to get the handgun on Saturday, Nov. 10 from his dresser drawer, and it was missing. He told police he left numerous messages on the nanny's phone to no avail that he was going to contact the police.
