The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has embarked on an ambition plan to provide safety improvements on Highway 30 from the St. Louis County line (roughly the City of Fenton) to Hwy. B/NN in Jefferson County. The project will culminate in late 2013 with intersection modifications designed to address numerous car crashes along the route.
"That area experiences a lot of intersection crashes," said Kara Price, MoDOT Community Relations Specialist.
The improvement project will include work on acceleration and deceleration lanes, off-set turn lanes, intersection lighting, signal modifications, an adaptive signal system and a travel time system.
The improvements are expected to increase safety and traffic flow along the Highway 30 corridor. MoDOT has federal funding available to make the safety modifications.
MoDOT says motorists han expect minor delays along the route during "non-peak" travel times.
