The following was reported by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
A Cedar Hill man returned from a three-day trip to Florida Oct. 14 and saw clothes from his work truck spread throughout the yard of his home on Cedarwood Drive. Upon investigating the mess, he discovered his work tools and other items had been stolen. Missing were a Garman GPS unit, a white digital camera, a yellow power inverter, a set of lineman's climbing gear, a black tool bag, a camouflage tool bag, an orange tool bag, numerous hand tools, three specialty "nut runner sockets, a black and yellow voltage meter, a black rotation meter, multiple work flashlights, 12 hard hat work lights, a personal checkbook, a large set of keys and an 18-volt DeWalt impact driver that had "Mine, Not Yours" written on it. The value of the tools was set at $4,540. The man said he thought the doors to his truck were locked but said it's possible they were unlocked.
